In the book, “Meditation and Mindfulness On The Go,” the focus is on what is called “active meditation” as practiced by Buddhist monks to imbue a high level of mindfulness in their daily activities. This means that even while monks engage in traditional sitting meditations as part of their everyday routine, they also practice mindfulness all through the day. They add mindfulness to everything they do, such as cleaning, working in the garden, cooking, eating, and all other daily activities.
The active meditation exercises in this book are designed to let you create moments of stillness, of mindfulness during the day. Anytime you have a minute, do one of these little exercises to experience a moment of mindfulness. If you practice this regularly, this feeling will stay with you longer and longer. It will give a different quality to your life. The more you practice these exercises, the more this state of mindfulness and awareness will become your natural way of being.
